East Devon Soul is run by two experienced music industry professionals, Dr Simon Strange and Andrew Pilkington. They have been organising local events over the last few years, bringing their experience from working and performing at numerous events including Glastonbury, Shambala, Sidmouth Jazz and Blues and Greenman festivals. As local residents they see the opportunity which Seaton contains, a slightly forgotten seaside town with numerous underused internal and external venues.
The East Devon Soul brand stands for innovation, eclecticism, talent, exposure and excellence. All acts have a global beats aesthetic, music which will appeal across the ages, from clubbers to jazzists. Seaton is the soul of East Devon, a town with great assets and opportunities which has been underutilised. A beautiful bay, a great community, numerous venues and an infrastructure tailor made for an expanding music festival.
We are very grateful to receive funding from Arts and Culture East Devon and Arts Council England Grassroots Music Fund for our festival, meaning we can keep ticket prices low for headliners and provide free music across the town.
